oops, reading for april 30th

Between misunderstandings and some of  us bumming around California, we barely met last time. Due to a show the house band is playing, we aren't meeting this time. People still seemed excited to do this, so unless there's any opposition, lets just read Hannah's reading pick and talk about it Tuesday april 30th. Yeah?

here:

Hey guys,
This week I thought it might be fun to read some fiction. Here are 4 short stories from a compilation edited by Ray Bradbury.

Here is the download link : http://we.tl/tEsYHfStZx

I started flipping through this book and somewhat coincidentally kept reading stories that had to do with sound/music.

Two of the authors are also coincidentally authors you may recognize from childhood.

Hope you all enjoy.

READING FOR tuesday 3/19

Hey everybody, for the next drunk book club we'll be reading Dessert. It's a zine about the possibilities of how global warming might affect our world, the situation that anti-capitalists are in, and how we might be able to adapt to climate change. What I think is the latest addition can be found here, and here is an older version, which is maybe a little more friendly for reading on the computer.
Enjoy, I think this one should be pretty interesting!    -Keenan

"Desert is a gloves-off assault on optimism and the hope of 'saving' the world, coming from a strong green
anarchist perspective. It asks the question, what does it mean to be an anarchist, or an environmentalist, when
there is no longer any hope that the world can go back to a pre-tech state, when the goal is no longer working toward a
global revolution and social/ecological sustainability? In some ways, this is the equivalent of Dupont's
Nihilist Communism for a green anarchist audience."

reading for tuesday february 19th

So the next reading is the Invisibles vol 1, a tale about a young
rapscallion who is recruited through his own angst and rage into a secretsociety of individuals battling the forces of darkness. A heads up that
towards the end they traveling back into the writings of the Marquis de
Sade and so <Trigger Warning> there are some scenes of rape and
defilement. While the images are not intensely graphic the language is
pretty nasty (it's all verbatim de Sade if i remember right). That being
said it provides an interesting point or two but if folx don't feel
comfortable reading it then we'll just skip it!

Ye, so i uploaded the file onto mediafire cuz it's too big to email. I
included the link below but if this doesn't work for some reason holler at
me and i'll either lend you my copy or print you out one at that fake
local bank Chumpqua.

ALSO- we changed the time so that so more people could attend. Jean Pierre
had work on mondays too. WE WILL NOW BE MEETING ON TUESDAYS AT 8 O'CLOCK
POST-MERIDIAN. If you are prone to be late than we are meeting at 6 so get
your rear in gear. lastly, you are the designated snack provider this
time.

READINGS for FEB 4th meeting

HAY.

the readings for next meeting are The Sexual Politics of Black Womanhood by patricia hill collins & La conciencia de la mestiza: Towards a New Consciousness by Gloria AnzaldĂșa. These are Monica's picks, and she actually scanned them herself. Print them out at that fake local bank Umpqua for free or at the public library for about a buck or on Keith's printer when he's not home (it only prints in red ink).
